Pictures of you

how do you display all of those precious moments? Our baby albums are all those big square ones with sticky pages. These days though its all either pockets or full on scrap booking. I hate the pocket ones, its just photos, no story. But im not into scrapbooking either (anymore). I like to be able to add and take out pictures. So i have hunted around and found that Teds camera store has the sticky ones! With refils because they only come with about 5 pages. So im going to grab one or two. (Future babies want sticky ones too).

Of course i could jump on the poject life bandwagon which i did consider but it has the same peoblem as the pocket ones in that i dont have much control in the layout.

Im also doing a first year book with blurb. Just waiting for his first birthday pictures this weekend to finish it! Im so excited. It has family pictures too so he knows where he came from. Im getting three copies, one each for me, rue and BD.

Rues first year

I mentioned a while ago (i think) That i was making a year book. Well it has morphed into a family album/ Rues first year record. Im having alot of fun with it but im struggling with some parts. You see i have many pictures of Rue (obviously) but am not sure what else to include. It really needs more stories in it. I have a few family tree pages with various lists, family, cousins, great grandparents. I have a list of milestones and a letter from me to him. But thats no where near enough to fill in all the gaps.

I would love to put some paintings done by rue in there but he hasnt really done any yet. He did one for mum and one for daddy. Maybe i can do some hand prints? What other things would you include?

Year book

I cant believe I didn’t think of this sooner but so glad I started the year Rueben was born. The idea came from a pinterest picture from eighteen25 blog. The idea is that rather than having all of your pictures stored on your computer you actually make a book out of them. There is some great software out there but im going with the one that eighteen25 suggested which is Blurb. Then you install their book software on your computer. Its so simple to use and comes with templates for text and images so you can arrange them how you like. Plus I have just discovered the edit layout feature which means you can pick a template then alter it however you like to suit the look you want.  I am going for the hard cover one as it will last longer. I think I will get two printed, one for me and one for Rueben as the year he was born. Apparently they are under $100 each for about 250 pages.

What am I putting in it?

  • Pictures of my family,
  • trips,
  • artwork that Rueben does,
  • pictures of things that happened.
  • I can use this blog to pull stories to put for each month.
  • Get friends and family to write letters about their year.
